Objectives:

To maintain shelf space and availability of the News of The World at every ASDA store across the country, to raise brand presence and generate consumer interest in conjunction with TV advertising campaigns and in-store promotions to ultimately increase sales.

Overview:

Experienced Merchandisers worked together with ASDA’s store staff to maximize shelf space; they also ensured that all stock was audited, out of the store room and on the shelves. Merchandisers also distributed free CDs to encourage sales of the News of The World while recording consumer behavior and attitudes.

Results:

Although there was stiff competition from other newspapers within the store, it was an amazing success with a sales uplift of 23%! Awareness not only of the News of The World but the supplements/content inside was raised and the consumer information collected was a vital part of monitoring brand distribution and development.
