Objectives:
The objective was to encourage the nation to be more patriotic and celebrate St George’s Day with a traditional feast of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. A recent survey conducted by the English Beef and Lamb Executive found that St. George’s Day is in danger of extinction.
Overview:
In order to encourage the nation to “Beef Up St. George’s Day”, Ian Botham visited each Political Party HQ and finished up at 10 Downing Street to present a petition. Prior to his visit to each political party, our Presenter (St. George) visited radio stations to deliver roast beef, present the values, encourage audience participation and recite The Ode to Roast Beef.
Results:
A partition was successfully delivered to 10 Downing Street and the media coverage generated by our presenter was invaluable. Research showed that 91% of people were not aware of any traditions to mark St. George’s Day, however, 84% of the people do know how to celebrate the holiday of another country (i.e. 4th July or Saint Patrick’s Day).
